Kairos Risk and Insurance Services is a short term insurance brokerage company operating in Durban. The business was started by three ambitious and highly skilled insurance specialists with over 70 years broking experience between them within the corporate broking environment. Branching out from the corporate environment, the managing partners of this business have taken the plunge into the highly competitive independent broking environment to offer their clients world class insurance advice and service with a personal touch.

With new members joining our team, our business now has collectively, in excess of 150 years of experience. For an independent business this shows the vast experience and expertise of our Team. With a well-rounded skill sets which includes broking, claims and experience in all aspects of short term insurance, we are geared to handle any Personal, Commercial, Corporate or Marine risk.

OUR TEAM

ASHWIN KESHAV

Ashwin Keshav has been in the insurance broking environment for over 24 years. Having started at the bottom and working his way up in the corporate ladder, Ashwin has had stints with Alexander Forbes, New Republic Bank, Investec and Aon SA where he held senior positions. Ashwin is an Associate of the Insurance Institute of South Africa and is a managing partner at Kairos Risk and Insurance Services – Durban. He has a wealth of experience in the Personal and Commercial Insurance space.

SELVAN NAICKER

Selvan Naicker has been in the insurance industry for over 26 years. Having started his career at General Accident Insurance Company in 1989, Selvan joined Alexander Forbes where he served most of his years within the corporate environment broking and placing risks at the highest level. He also held senior positions at Aon SA (Durban) as Head of Corporate insurance division and later Head of Commercial Insurance. Also, a managing partner at Kairos Risk and Insurance Services and an Associate of the Insurance Institute of South Africa, Selvan prides himself on attaining in depth knowledge of client’s risk exposures and tailoring policies to suit client needs

SHIVANI KESHAV

Shivani Keshav joined the Kairos team in 2017, she started in underwriting and has worked her way into claims and is now in internal compliance. Shivani has completed her Higher Certificate in Insurance and her LLB, she is also and associate of the Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA), she was a Top Ten Finalist of The Insurance Apprentice in 2022. Shivani has served on the IIKZN Council since 2018, holding position of Education Chair in 2022 and Deputy President of IIKZN in 2023.

REGGIE CHETTIAR

Reggie Chettiar has been in the insurance industry for over 44 years. Having started his career at S A Eagle in 1971, Reggie joined a succession of insurance companies and brokers over the years. In 1990 Reggie joined Louis Volks where he held a position of Director. Aon acquired Louis Volks in 1995 and Reggie continued to hold a senior role at Aon as a Commercial Manager, until 2013. Reggie joined Kairos in 2014 and is an Associate of the Insurance Institute of South Africa. A veteran in the insurance industry, Reggie’s expertise as a broker is of the highest standard.

NICHOLAS NAICKER

Nicholas Naicker is new to the insurance industry. Having commenced his career in the insurance industry in 2013, Nicholas is a Claims Technician and is responsible for the day to day handling of claims under the supervision of our experienced Team.
